NYTrustAttorney.com is a virtual law firm created by attorneys who value the importance of a complete estate plan prepared by a qualified attorney. We are NOT a document preparation site but are licensed attorneys who practice in the area of trust and estate law and probate law in New York State.

What steps have you taken to finalize your estate plan? We believe that every person over the age of 18 must discuss with, and be counseled by, a competent attorney on his or her estate plan. However we also realize that the daily demands placed on people often limit one’s ability to meet with an attorney. We have created this e-lawyering site because we understand the time constraints on everyone and do not believe planning your estate should be put off “until tomorrow”.

Have you discussed your wishes with an attorney? Have you put it off because it all sounds so overwhelming? In its simplest form, an estate plan insures that you decide who will inherit your assets. Without a will or trust, New York State law and the judges who interpret that law dictate who will inherit your estate, who will manage your money for your children if you have them, and who will become the guardian of your children. Do you want those important decisions taken away from you?

Through our secure email, you can complete your estate plan on your time. Your questions will be answered and documents prepared with the same care as if you were to meet us in our office.

You will not be dealing with a “document preparation specialist” but with an attorney; an attorney who specializes in estate planning and probate; an attorney who can counsel and advise you on the legal implications of your options and choices; an attorney who can tailor your documents to your needs.

Do you need an estate planning attorney?

Do you have children? Do you want a court deciding who will raise your children or would you like to determine who will be the guardian of your children? Do you want your assets distributed to your children at age 18 or would you like to determine when money can be paid to the child and/or the guardian?

Do you have a taxable estate and if so, have you done everything available to reduce the potential taxes?

Do you want all or a portion of your estate to be given to your partner? Unless you are married, New York law does not recognize a partner as an heir who would receive a portion of your estate without a will as would a spouse, child, parent, or sibling.

Are you divorced and concerned that your ex-spouse will control the money you want left for your children?

These are only a few of the concerns our clients bring to us on a daily basis. And the answers to these questions must be immortalized in an estate plan.

If you have waited too long to address these issues and you feel as we do that their importance cannot be ignored any longer, please contact us.

We will respond to your email within 6 business hours after it is sent (barring unforeseen occurrences). There is no fee for this contact; we will read your question and suggest some solutions. You can then decide whether to proceed with our firm as your estate attorneys.

To communicate with one of our attorneys, please complete the Contact Us form. Or if you prefer, call us to schedule a meeting in our Manhattan office.
